About American Pride Alpacas LLC.
Our alpacas are currently boarded at Northwest Alpacas and Alpacas of America. We will update this information as it changes. (December 2005).
 We have a lot to be proud of. Our story is truly one of the American dream. One of us was born in Europe and the other was born a world apart in the USA. Only in America could two people of such different backgrounds become one team to work toward the improvement of the alpaca genetics, and the refinement and density of fleece of the alpaca. We have come together in a partnership after working together for many years and finding that we have a common desire to be in the elite alpacas business. Over a span of thirty years we have provided the highest quality health care to people, now we will provide this to our alpacas. Our ranch allows us the luxury of providing the best care and animal husbandry an alpaca could ever have. Daily decisions are made with a vision of the future of the superior alpacas. All of our animals and clients are precious and will get the very best warm care and attention from us. We are continuously improving our methods of care and the choices made in breeding these fine animals.

 Our five-acre ranch is in Shingle Springs, California, about nine miles west of Placerville, in the county of El Dorado. We chose this location because of the inviting community, the trees, and the healthy environment for our beautiful alpacas. The property is designed to allow for ease in herd management and to provide the best pasture and protection for alpacas.
We are a member of the Ideal Alpaca Community, which is a national alpaca improvement program. We are using elite breeding stock to which foundation animals will be born that will be potent genotypes. These animals will then go on to help build the elite, superior herds. Some discussions about the importance of the genetic improvement and how to get improvement for alpacas can be found using the Ideal Alpaca Community link. We use our membership in this community and the expert advice to enrich our breeding decision-making.
Although there are no current official breed standards there is a lot of information to be found on the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association website about breed standards. We believe that ongoing forums and committees are a way to insure positive outcomes for alpaca breeders and the future of the business.
 OUR MISSION
Our mission is to have an elite herd of alpacas bred from proven, superior alpacas that have been chosen from the best genetic lines available in the United States and South America. We make breeding selections through attention to detail, expert advice and modern animal husbandry practices. We breed for the traits that are highly heritable – high-quality fleece, desirable temperament, and a balanced, correct conformation. Our goal is to participate in the raising of alpacas that will produce the finest fleece in the world. Don Julio Barreda of Estancia Accoyo in Peru said, “Breed only the best to only the best.”
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We have been given the opportunity and responsibility to work with and take care of the graceful, mystical alpacas brought to the USA from South America about twenty-five years ago. We will apply the most stringent methods of selection to our breeding practices. We owe these peaceful animals our best care. We also owe our clients the best business practices, which are the highest level of integrity and honesty one can find in the business. We provide honest, open communication, which includes background information and current conditions on all of our animals. We will strive to find answers to client’s questions. We may ask questions of clients to help direct them toward a greater understanding of alpacas. We will do what it takes to help others become successful and happy in the business of breeding elite alpacas.
